The Cullera de Boix restaurant redesigns the outdoor terrace of its venue located on Rambla Catalunya (Barcelona) to create a more welcoming environment thanks to new umbrellas and planters.

Barcelona’s Rambla Catalunya gets a new modern, fresh and renewed space to eat something, have a drink or gather around a table with friends. It is the restaurant terrace specialising in rice dishes in the Catalan capital: Cullera de Boix.

Since mid-July, this terrace, which has been open to the public since spring, has incorporated some umbrellas that attract customers’ attention due to their elegance and functionality, as they offer a cool shade in the middle of summer in downtown Barcelona.

The umbrellas, sponsored by Estrella Damm, are black and incorporate on the inside a bundle fabric in reddish and white tones, with square shapes. This design combines the restaurant’s two culinary bets: the black colour conveys the feeling of elegance and modernity, whereas the inner part brings to mind the restaurant’s popular roots.

Or, putting it another way and making a comparison with the cuisine this restaurant specialising in rice dishes has been offering for fifteen years: it mingles traditional Mediterranean cuisine and innovative (and sometimes transgressive) recipes by the Cullera de Boix chef, Xavier Matarrodona.

Having some tapas and wines

In addition to the umbrellas, the terrace includes other elements that provide the space with a fresh atmosphere. This is managed with plants in large planters that create a spatial separation wall and convey intimacy while eating.

The restaurant, founded by Jordi Gabarrell, opts for rustic furniture for its terrace: tables and chairs are made of wood, and all tableware includes tablecloth fabric and crystal glasses. Although it may seem a banality, demanding palates know that a paella at a beach bar in the Barceloneta district, with plastic chairs and paper tablecloth, has nothing to do with a quality rice dish on a fresh terrace with cosy furniture, professional service and a friendly staff.

Make a reservation here to join a paella with family or friends in Cullera Boix, the best rice dishes’ restaurant in Barcelona.
